ARDMORE, Pa. - Shoppers were still filling Suburban Square on Saturday, many carrying bags and showing off postholiday purchases as they squeezed in more browsing, returning and giftcard spending.
Nyla Jones of Bala Cynwyd said she and her friend Camila Rodriguez came simply to enjoy the day. "We came out here to hang out the two of us and shop!" she said.
For others, the trip was more practical. Alexa and Jennifer Hill of Broomall said they were focused on postChristmas errands. "Just returning stuff that doesn't fit," Alexa said. "And using gift cards we have," Jennifer added.
Some visitors said they were taking advantage of a calmer shopping window by avoiding the immediate dayafterChristmas rush. "I usually like to wait - not the day after, I usually like to wait a day or two after because I don't like all the customers. It gets crazy," Jennifer Hill said.
Others simply prefer good old fashioned brick and mortar to online shopping.
"I am a store girl," said Vicky Wilder of Yeadon. "I love the stores. I want to be there, I want to see everything, I want to touch things, I want to go - oh yeah, this is me! Yeah, I'm a store girl all the way," she said.
For Noelle and Natalia Burg of Villanova, the outing was sparked by a gift card. "She had a gift card for Sephora that she wanted to use and that's pretty much it - we just felt like getting out. We love coming to Suburban," Noelle Burg said. Natalia added, "I got a blush, a lip gloss, and a mascara."
Other shoppers, like Vicky Andreacchio of Broomall, spent the afternoon moving between stores. "We went to Stile, Madewell, Lululemon, Brandy," she said.
But it wasn't necessarily the material things that kept people in the holiday spirit. The icicles dangling from ornaments, the twinkling lights, and the warm glow of the fire, all helped keep the holiday magic alive
"What a wonderful time of the year," Wilder said. "We love Christmas. Everybody is so happy. Everybody likes everybody. We're here in Ardmore just shopping - all the great stores, all the great restaurants. If you're not doing anything tomorrow get here!" she said.
Suburban Square will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday for anyone still looking to use gift cards or make returns.
